For some it’s old news, an event already relegated to the past tense. For others, getting a grip on reality after getting so much salt smashed up their sinus and having barrels almost cook their face off, that Durban swell that dropped still remains in the foreground of their consciousness. With photo after photo and edit after edit flooding social media and surf sites the world over, some memories are worth holding on to whilst others are better off left open to interpretation. This Tuesday we pay tribute to the tubes that totally tore open the surf dimension, check out this rad edit put together by

so why did the goodwave not run? not enough favorable conditions for the day?
Good question… they surely could have run the goodwave… I think the problem may have been the wind predictions. It was meant to be howling on-shore for the entire swell window. And then fortunately it cleaned up… so maybe there was not enough lead time to accurately make a call and get people down to Durban. It would have been epic.
Because they could not run a piss-up in a brewery.
Anyway GoodWave sucks… who wants to see the same old same old surfers.
