Another reminder why you should never surf alone happened yesterday morning along Durban’s Golden Mile, when long-time Town local Richard Cousens suffered a heart-attack during his routine pre-work surf. Fellow dawn-patrollers were quick to come to Rich’s rescue, however, and they managed to get him to shore and transported swiftly to Addington Hospital, where he received treatment. One of the crew even drove Richard’s car back home and informed his wife about the incident.
‘I would still be floating out there if it weren’t for my surfing buddies’ remarked Richard about the attack from his hospital bed at Addington. The doctor also mentioned that if it weren’t for Rich’s active lifestyle, the outcome could have been far worse. The moral of the story – surf more, just never alone.
Wishing you a speedy recovery Richard, we’re reserving your spot in the lineup.
