It’s the start of shark season in the Western Cape, when Great Whites spend less time at the seal colonies and move closer inshore. The Shark Spotters have consistently recorded a seasonal increase during the period of September to April, peaking in mid-summer, and there have already been a couple of beach closures after sightings at Fish Hoek and Koegel Baai.
