A familiar scene for beachgoers along Durban’s Golden Mile over the past few decades was Jake Clemmans cruising the promenade on his bicycle. Always wearing his trademark leather hat, and with his longboard strapped alongside him in the rack, Jake was a long time Dairy Beach local and will be missed by many.
According to his son Konrad, Jake passed away peacefully at home last night, with his sons, step daughter and wife by his side.
“Biker, Surfer and Mate to us all – let us not mourn his passing, but joyfully reflect on his impact on us all.” – Konrad Clemmans
For those that knew Jake personally, or were stoked to see his familiar face every time he peddled or paddled past, a memorial paddle out is planned for 7:00am on Friday morning at Dairy Beach.
