Success, a 5.1m female great white was ‘pinged’ just 400m offshore from Jeffreys Bay yesterday. Tagged by the Ocearch crew in Struisbaai while they were conducting their studies in SA waters last year, Success weighs a massive 1.6 tons, so any J-Bay residents who noticed the update on Ocearch’s online shark tracker could be forgiven for being alarmed.
Thankfully for them, Success was just on her way past after travelling from Madagascar, and was later ‘pinged’ halfway to Plettenberg Bay, so it will now be the Plett residents who are keeping their eyes on Success.
