This is a reminder why surfing with buddies is better than being the only dude out. The video was shot by David McMaster this past Saturday. It shows Cape Town locals, Aden Kleve and Wilder Schultz, rushing to the rescue of a fellow waverider who’d taken a tumble and suffered a concussion.
The swell was ferocious at the dredging beachbreak where the rescue took place. Strong currents gushed in all directions through the lineup after each set exploded on the shallow sandbank. This made it a treacherous place to be treading water. Even worse if you’re concussed after a crunching wipeout.
Thankfully, the life-threatening situation was spotted by Aden and Wilder, who came as swiftly as possible to help get the distressed man to shore. Bravo to the rescuers and we’re stoked to see that a bad situation had a good ending.
Well done guys Respect yes!
Huge Blessings and respects to Aden Kleve and Wilder Schultz for their quick initiative on Saturday at ‘The HOEK’. We also thank ALL who were there and gave assistance to BeeJay. Best wishes from Family and Friends.
