Biodegradable Surfboard Packaging

In the last decade or two, the surf industry has been undergoing a shift toward more environmentally friendly surf apparel. We have seen wooden boards explode especially amongst the ‘flat white’ drinking hipsters. We have seen wetsuits take a turn toward the greener side of life and some Countries have taken it to the next level and banned certain sunblocks so as to decrease its effect on coral. Sticking with the green agenda a company out in Cornwall, England, have created a truly unique approach to surfboard packaging. Their name, Flexi-Hex. The traditional approach involves a helluva lot of bubble wrap and other non-biodegradable materials. Current packaging can also be rather arduous, taking up to 30 mins to wrap up tooooit. Well Flexi-Hex has solved both these problems, just check out this neat vid:

With this clever packaging, the job can take as little as two minutes bru. The 100% recyclable cardboard folds and unfolds in less than a second, gooi on klein bits duct tape and the jobs done, making getting your board prepped for its next overseas journey that much more breezy. The hexagonal cellular structure is highly flexible and creates a 3cm separation between surfboards. And thanks to its honeycomb geometry, the details and identification of the board are always visible. This plastic-free solution is the ideal packaging method for surfboard manufacturers, shapers, and surf shops wishing to pack and protect their products quickly and efficiently. Fair play Flexi-Hex, we applaud your effort to fight single-use plastic and helping surfers reduce their environmental footprint
