One would think that with all the advancements in wave forecasting technology seen over the last decade or so, predicting a swell would be as easy as 1-2-3. However, Mother Nature has a habit of bowling us an outswinger from time-to-time, and this seems to be the case with good ol’ cyclone Funso.
Across the country Facebook statuses, online features and e-mail newsletters were predicting thumping waves along the east coast of the rainbow nation, with airplane tickets booked, new boards ordered and everyone getting a little excited. There’s still some hope for the next four days, but to date Funso hasn’t quite reached the heights expected of her. That doesn’t mean she hasn’t been turning the Golden Mile into a consistent liquid funpark with little funnels and ramps galore.
Jordy Smith pulled into town and stepped straight off the plane and into the waves which he’s become so familiar with over the years. It’s called the New Pier, but Jordy likes to call it “home”.
Jords twists at the hips on a wedgey left.
