TARANAKI, New Zealand (Saturday, April 14, 2012) – The TSB Bank NZ Surf Festival featuring the Dow AgroSciences Pro has been called on at Taranaki today. The sun is out and the surf is a fun sized two-to-three foot (1.5 meters) with an expected increase in wave size and quality throughout the day.
Stop No. 3 of 7 on the 2012 ASP Women’s World Championship Tour, the Dow AgroSciences Pro offers vital points in the race for the ASP Women’s World Title. There are only two more heats of Round 4 remaining before competition enters the Quarterfinals and it’s possible that an event champion will be crowned today.
Craig Williamson, TSB Bank New Zealand Surf Festival Director is looking forward to an exciting day of surfing, and the possible crowning of an event champion.
“It’s a fantastic day in Taranaki today!” Williamson said. “The sun is out, the winds are favourable and the surf is getting better and better. If things continue this way we could have an event winner by day’s end. But in saying that, if conditions change dramatically we could hold off the Semifinals and Final until tomorrow. Either way, I’m sure we’re going to witness some great surfing and I’m excited to see how it all unfolds.”
The TSB Bank NZ Surf Festival featuring the Dow AgroSciences Pro holds a waiting period from April 11 through 15 and will be webcast LIVE via http://nzsurffestival.co.nz
