Kelly Slater (USA), 40, reigning 11-time ASP World Champion and current ASP World No. 5, will campaign for an unprecedented fifth Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach title today.
BELLS BEACH, Victoria/Australia (Friday, April 6, 2012) – The Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach presented by Ford Ranger has been called back on today with clean four-to-six foot (1.5 – 2 metre) waves steaming through Rincon and the Bells Bowl.
The second stop on the 2012 ASP World Championship Tour, the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach will take advantage of today’s conditions, potentially crowning a men’s and women’s champ by day’s end.
“Very clean this morning and we still have solid sets on offer,” Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge, said. “We’ll be commencing men’s Round 5 at 7:15am, and have put the remainder of both competitions on hold for a potential finish today. We’ll monitor the conditions throughout the day and adjust accordingly.”
Up first this morning will be ASP Dream Tour rookie John John Florence (HAW), 19, and Jeremy Flores (FRA), 23, in the opening heat of Round 5.
