The friends and families of Kommetjie are putting on their third annual Boardswap this Saturday, 10 October, and you’re all encouraged to pull in with a couple of good boards that you might be willing to swap for someone else’s board that you prefer.
On top of all the board-swapping fun, there will also be a collection of live music performances, a collection of surf and skate movies will be screened, plus some of Cape Town’s finest shapers will be showing their wares. Not only that, but some epic surf art will also be on sale, as well as clothing and wetsuits, good coffee, craft beer and food.
All the proceeds this year will be going towards getting James Lowe and Josh Redman back to Jaws.
Zag Shorts monthly winner, Josh Rowe will be premiering his new movie ‘Reverie’ featuring James Lowe at the Boardswap.
“Both guys did really well last year and have a very real chance of making an impact as sponsored big wave surfers,” said Dougal Patterson, one of the Boardswap organisers. “Our dream is to see them competing on the world stage, but until they get decent sponsorship deals, it is our honour as the South African surf community to help cover their costs.”
The Boardswap starts at 3:00pm. Entrance fee is R30, which gets you a ticket into a raffle that has many epic prizes up for grabs.
** A shuttle for the nominees of the Striped Horse Challenge will depart from the venue at 6:45pm and will return the mountain-men back to Kommetjie later that evening.
Party ON!
