The first event of the Future Legends Coaching Series is set to kick off this Saturday 23 January at New Pier, Durban, and the final list of 36 groms taking part have been narrowed down from the country’s best. The division winners from the three-part series will be invited to participate in a free two-week High Performance Surfing Academy coaching course valued at R12k per participant, and judging by the list of names chosen, it’s going to be a series you won’t want to miss.

South African Surfing Legends Through The High Performance Surfing Academy Announce The List Of Surfers Invited To The Future Legends Coaching Series
Durban – South African Surfing Legends are proud to announce the full list of surfers who have been invited to attend the inaugural Future Legends Coaching Series.
“The selection committee considered all the surfers from across the country who entered their names for the coaching series, and we think that the final list of surfers shows great potential for the future,” said South African Surfing Legends’ Jason Ribbink. “We are very excited to be working with this young team of future legends.”
The selected surfers are thus:
U16 Boys:
Eli Buekes, Bryce Du Preez, Max Elkington, Angelo Faulkner, Calvin Goor, Jared Hook, Tide Lee Ireland, Ryan Lightfoot, Koby Oberholzer, Saxton Randal, Karl Steen, Joe Webster, Julien Zens, Aya Grinieke, York Van Jaarsveld and Luke Slijpen.

U13 Boys:
Nathan Colby, Mitch Du Preez, Kyle McGregor, Ben Ribbink, James Ribbink, Nathan Spalding, Luke Thompson, Alex Townsend, Matt Coetzer and Kai Hall.
U16 Girls:
Sophie Bell, Anna Jallema Butler, Nina Harmse, Olivia Izzard, Gabi Lailvaux, Kirsty McGillivray, Kayla Nogueira, Zoe Smith, Snehlanhla Makhubu and Kelly Medley.
The Future Legends Coaching Series is set to take place on the 23rd January, 27th February and 19th March at The New Pier in Durban.
The Future Legends Coaching Series will focus on the four foundation pillars of modern surfing, being Physical, Mental, Equipment and Surf.
After the coaching series, the division winners will be invited to participate in a free two-week High Performance Surfing Academy coaching course valued at R12k per participant that will take place on a date yet to be determined in Durban.
