For most surfers, being confined to a fluorescent-lit cubicle for eight hours a day to earn our salaries isn’t an ideal scenario. Nah. We’d report to the boss much better working somewhere like the pic below. If this kind of work environment appeals to you, you may just be in luck.
Ticket to Ride (TTR) is a UK based travel company which employs local surfers to take on the role of surf guide and mentor to groups of surf-stoked international visitors while they tour countries like SA. Yes, that’s right: you actually get paid to surf and hang out, and we’ve got the inside scoop for the Zag audience: TTR are looking for more local surfers to be employed as surf guides during their South African trips. Kalk Bay tube maestro and all-round nice guy, Chris Bond, heads up operations for Ticket to Ride in South Africa and had the following pitch for anyone interested in becoming part of the TTR team:
“Want to travel and surf for a living but you’re not quite Kelly? This may be the perfect job for you! Ticket to Ride run surf trips from Cape Town to Mozambique guiding, driving and coaching enthusiastic young surfers and we are looking for trip leaders. Get to show them our amazing coastline, surf our waves and help others enjoy the stoke of surfing. Previous coaching or guiding experience is ideal, but have a look at our website www.ttride.co.uk to see more of what we’re about, and if you think you are the man or woman for the job, then e-mail your CV to Chris Bond on chris@ttride.co.uk.”
