Sound Waves Reloaded

Last year, the backyard music event Sound Waves was launched in an effort to raise funds for the Durban based surf charity Surfers Not Street Children. After last year’s success this year’s event has gotten bigger and better, moving from the backyard to Surf Riders Food Shack which is located on the promenade, right in front of the spots that have groomed these grom’s surfing over the past few years. The event is free and features some rad local music, as well as some epic prizes up for grabs, so make sure you get down there this Saturday 22 August and get involved.

PRESS RELEASE BELOW

After the small, yet successful Sound Wave I which was hosted in the back garden of one of the organisers last year, running another Sound Wave event was a no brainer.
The event is centered around a relaxing Saturday afternoon out, listening to live music and enjoying yourself which in turn raises money for Surfers Not Street Children.

This year the event will be hosted at Surf Riders Food Shack, renowned in Durban for “basically, just good food.” It is also ideally situated on the promenade at the beach front, allowing a Saturday afternoon out for the whole family. Beach, food, music, friends and charity.

Surfers Not Street Children is a global movement that changes the way the world sees and treats street children. All money raised at the event from donations or competition entries will be donated directly to the organisation.

We have been enormously supported so far and prizes include two George Ezra tickets (singer of hit song Budapest) as well as a surfboard from Ricky Basnett and a photoshoot worth over R3000. There will also be free limited edition Zigzag T-shirts made in association with RVCA up for grabs, as well as three free one year subscriptions to the mag.
