The South African Junior Surfing team left our shores yesterday afternoon to join the top Junior surfers from 38 other nations in California, where they’ll be contesting the 2015 Vissla ISA World Junior Surfing Champs at Oceanside between 11 and 18 October.
The contest site at Oceanside, California, looking good.
A strong squad has been assembled to take on the best the world has to offer:
Under 18 Boys: Shane Sykes, Michael Monk, Richard Kidd, Ntando Msibi
Under 18 Girls: Teal Hogg, Chanelle Botha,
Under 16 Boys: Adin Masencamp, Joshe Faulkner, Sebastian Williams, Luke Malherbe
Under 16 Girls: Sophie Bell, Olivia Izzard.
Isaac February (Manager) Greg Emslie (Head Coach), David Malherbe (Coach)
We’re well aware of the level our group can surf at having watched them compete against each other at no less than three Pro Junior events in the past few weeks, but it’s going to be interesting to see how they match-up to the top groms from around the globe.
Joshe Faulkner was SA’s top performer at the 2014 ISA World Junior Champs.
The stage is set for our young guns to make their mark on international surfing, and they’ll be doing their best to not only represent SA, but also grab some individual glory too.
