The 2016 Samsung Galaxy Championship Tour got underway in playful surf at Snapper Rocks for day one of the Quiksilver Pro. The waves did not reflect any of the Superbank’s perfection that we’ve been seeing lately but the fun conditions were all the world’s best surfers needed to provide star performances.

Round One Highlights

Event Wildcard Mikey Wright defeated 2015 World Champion Adriano de Souza and Kolohe Andino in the last minute of their Round 1 match up. Wright’s multiple punches to the lip causing one of the biggest upsets of the day while his board lost a fin in the process.

Defending Quiksilver Pro champ Filipe Toledo’s start to the season was on point, securing a win in the first round.
