No Waves Forces Cancellation of Roxy Pro Biarritz

Following on from the teaser vid that racked up over a million views on Youtube, interest was high for the start of the Roxy Pro Biarritz – the 6th stop on the 2013 ASP Women’s World Championship Tour. While Vic Bay local Bianca Buitendag and the rest of the Top 17 waited for a swell that never came, they did get a chance to sample the much talked about Wavegarden in nearby Spain, that was offering not only more waves than the Cote des Basques, but also a little something different for the girls to get warmed-up on after a two-month break in the tour, and ahead of the next event in Surf City, USA – the Vans US Open of Surfing at Huntington Beach. The anti-cyclonic system off the French coast which plagued the Roxy Pro waiting period with a flat ocean simply refused to budge, and left the organisers with no choice but to call the event off, with it now re-scheduled to go down at the far more consistent and perfect Hossegor in September – at the same time the Men’s Dream Tour rolls trough France to contest the Quiksilver Pro.
