In an announcement yesterday, Hurley revealed that one of the wildcards for the 2014 Hurley Pro at Trestles will again be decided by video trials. This time though, entries will be open to international surfers too and not just rippers from the USA as was the case in 2013.
A wildcard spot in the Hurley Pro Trestles is up for grabs by you, possibly.
This means there’s a chance for Saffa shredders like Slade Prestwich, Dale Staples, Beyrick De Vries and M-Feb to earn a spot in the WCT event, where they can show the world what they are capable of as they battle with the big guns on the Dream Tour at one of the world’s most rippable waves.
It could even be you. Entries are open to anyone over the age of 13* with eight crazy waves captured on video. You’ll just need to submit your footage and if the judges are impressed with your mad skills, then your entry will be included amongst the 16 finalists that will be featured online to contest the trials.
It’s as much a social media experiment as it is a test of skills – as Dane Reynolds learned in 2013 when he faced Cam Richards in the semi-finals.
If you don’t have eight rad clips on your hard drive, then you’ve got until 15 July to capture some magic and enter. Check out the rules here, or visit thehurleypro.com for more details or to upload your entry.
* Only surfers from Australia, Brazil, Costa Rica, England, France, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Tahiti and the United States are eligible to enter.
