Dale Staples Remains in Contention at Los Cabos Open of Surf

After another round of red-hot surfing at Zippers on Day 2 of the Los Cabos Open of Surf, only one South African remains in contention in the Mens division.

David Van Zyl, Slade Prestwich and Dylan Lightfoot all lost on the opening day, while Beyrick De Vries and Mikey February were unable to find the big scores needed to advance from their Round 2 heats in Mexico yesterday. This leaves Dale Staples as the only Saffa still in the event.

After an epic trip to Namibia, Dale will be hoping his good fortune continues in Mexico.

Currently nursing a knee injury, Ducky still managed to advance to Round 3, where he is set to face Carlos Munoz, Peterson Crisanto and Miguel Tudela in Heat 6.

Meanwhile, the Womens division is yet to get underway, but when it does there will be more Saffa support for Sarah Baum, who will be representing in Heat 8 of Round 2.

It’s still early days with five Rounds left before the finals, but keep an eye on Dale and Sarah as they look to progress through the remainder of the competition.
