Calling All Saffas – Join BG in the Hurley Pro Video Trials

In May we highlighted that the wildcard for the Hurley Pro at Trestles is open to anyone* with six rad video clips of themselves shredding. Last year’s popular video trials will once again decide the wildcard into the Dream Tour event, but this time Hurley have invited surfers from around the world to compete.

The Hurley Pro at Trestles is one of the world’s most-watched events.

And so far only one South African has entered. Brendon Gibbens submitted his video to stand a chance to surf against the world’s best. He’ll no doubt be up against a talented field of entrants, but he is the lone SA shredder. Entries are open until 15 July, so there’s still a chance for others to submit their clips and join the high-flying Saffa in the video trials.

BG is going to be doing it for SA.

Entries are open to anyone over the age of 13* with eight crazy waves captured on video. You’ll just need to submit your footage and if the judges are impressed with your mad skills, then your entry will be included amongst the 16 finalists that will be featured online to contest the trials.

It’s as much a social media experiment as it is a test of skills – as Dane Reynolds found out in 2013 when he faced Cam Richards in the semi-finals.

Check out the rules here, or visit thehurleypro.com for more details or to upload your entry.

* Only surfers from Australia, Brazil, Costa Rica, England, France, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Tahiti and the United States are eligible to enter.
