North coast locals, Brandon Jackson and Shane Sykes, grabbed the two remaining wildcards into the 6-Star Prime Mr Price Pro Ballito this past Saturday at the Mr Price Pro Trials.
Conditions were tough, but Shane Sykes was tearing it up on his way to earning a wildcard.
For Shane in particular, it’s a huge deal to grab a spot in the main event. The experience and QS points up for grabs are a massive boost for a Pro Junior looking ahead to a full professional career.
“For sure the biggest day of my life in surfing. So pumped to have made it into the Mr Price, especially with the legend @djacko,” claimed Shane on Facebook.

Now working in the industry after retiring from the tour a few years ago, Brandon Jackson won’t be feeling any pressure to perform. But with the massive prizemoney incentive a 6-Star Prime event offers, he won’t be taking it easy. He also hasn’t forgotten how to win a heat, so he’ll be looking to claim as many as possible in front of his local crowd.
