Bianca Buitendag has belted her way through to the quarter finals of the Roxy Pro Gold Coast. Perhaps ‘belted’ isn’t the right word, because her backhand turns were more finesse and form than sheer brutality. We’ve said it before and Bianca continues to prove it – the Vic Bay locals’ backhand surfing is one of the best on the Women’s Dream Tour.
A thing of beauty. Bianca’s backhand surfing is one of the best in the business.
It will have to be at its finest in her quarter final match-up against 2013 world title runner-up, Tyler Wright, who will be looking to use her left foot forward to her advantage. The Australian natural foot slotted into some clean barrels at Snapper Rocks in Round 3 to claim the heat win over Bianca (and Dimity Stoyle), sending her into a Round 4 match-up with Hawaiian, Alessa Quizon.
Bianca then turned on the power and flow to beat Alessa, who’d previously beaten Bianca in Round 1’s non-elimination heats. It is tit-for-tat at the Roxy Pro Gold Coast.
Tyler Wright tucks in during Round 3.
The day started with the remaining heats from Round 2 of the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast. Travis Logie, who’d advanced the previous day, will be up next in Heat 1 of Round 3 against 2012 champ, Taj Burrow (AUS).
Here are some highlights from the day’s action:

The ladies were lucky to have scored the best conditions out there so far. They didn’t disappoint either. I bet there were some very quiet macho dudes after some of those turns today. Me included. Impressive stuff, Bianca and co.
Hey Kevin have to agree with you on that .The girls are ripping. They are less predictable in terms of their approach-very interesting to watch….besides all the eye candy moments.
