Grant ‘Twiggy’ Baker is back at Punta Galea in Spain’s Basque region. The current big wave world champ is looking to defend the Punta Galea Challenge title he won there in December last year, and definitely not for the sunny weather.

The North Atlantic has been hit by what has been called a ‘weather bomb’, which has been sending plenty of foul weather and big swell to the regions that lie in its path – like Punta Galea. The green light was given for the event earlier this week by Big Wave World Tour (BWWT) Commissioner, Pete Mel, and they’re expecting some solid waves today.
Punta Galea offered a challenge at last year’s event. A giant pointbreak challenge.
The regions closer to the storm and the first to experience its effects have been recording massive swells, and the Billabong XXL submissions that have been coming in back this up.
