Bay of Plenty (Durban) was the scene of an unfortunate event this Wednesday morning where a body was found floating in the water. The man, believed to be in his late 30’s, was found floating on his back by two surfers.
One of the surfers on the scene recalled the morning’s events:
“We spotted a guy floating on his back in the shorie at about 5:45 this morning. Once we got closer we realised he wasn’t moving so we quickly ran over to see if there was a chance to save him. When we were able to reach the guy, we noticed that he was completely naked. So we just pulled him out the water, it was like ankle deep”
“I rolled him onto his side to check his airway and see if there was a chance he could be revived. But blood came out his mouth. Judging by what he looked like he had probably been in the water at least an hour. His face and head looked like it had been hit.”
Whilst this was happening the 2nd surfer on the scene alerted the police who rushed to the beach to retrieve the body. Details regarding how the man landed up in the water remain unknown.
