‘THE’ Kalk Bay Shootout

[scrollGallery id=63]

The Kalk Bay Shootout took place last Friday in front of an amped crowd hungry for the beyond vertical take-offs, the heavy wipeouts, the moves and of course the thick pits the Reef has become renowned for. Dual heats featuring both surfers and bodyboarders were used, a first for South Africa, which highlighted the spirit of camaraderie that the Shootout was aiming for and proving that no matter what craft you ride, we’re all after the same thing – to shred.

Photographer Alex Serafini Swanepoel was amongst the amped crowd, shooting her first ever surf contest and captured the day perfectly. The spirit, the passion, the grinding waves and of course the Cape Town surf family who came down to watch the action. This is the Kalk Bay Shootout through the crowds eyes.
