The first signs of this 4m-plus south east swell started showing its face late on Wednesday afternoon in Mossel Baai, before filling in overnight and bombarding the bay with massive and messy seas by dawn on Thursday.
While there were no-takers as the swell swatted the coast, there was plenty for the locals to mind-surf as the energy unloaded, before easing throughout the day.
