hey guys! where are the body boarding pic’s? the whole point of the compo was to show the community of waveriders
that share the reef on a daily basis.. lets not forget that the body boarders invited us to take part in their already
    well established event.

Dear Zigzag, the Kalk Bay Shootout was originally a bodyboarder created event which was all about the local bodyboarders having fun together in good waves at the reef. The surfers who share the reef with the bodyboarders loved the idea of the shootout and wanted in…. so the following year all the local kalk bay surfers are invited to join the contest.
Bodyboarders and surfers competed together in the same heats, in the same contest, sharing the save waves, hooting for each other and sharing the stoke, I don’t think its ever been done before, but it worked. Everyone was hanging out together and the vibe was awesome. bodyboarders saw some amazing surfing go down, Surfers saw some amazing bodyboarding go down. Everyone was loving it, but that’s only until zigzag’s coverage of the event, which undermined everything the kalk bay shootout was about this year. Friendship, unity, sharing waves, breaking down the stereotypes. Surfing for the sheer stoke, love, and community of it.
Nice one zigzag on making sure that any mention bodyboarding and surfing competing together as friends at the same time is omitted… Like it never happened….
