TO WSL, JBU, RVCA & ZAG

THANKS FOR THIS AWESOME OPPORTUNITY.

Words can’t describe the emotions that run through my core when I think of surfing J-Bay. It is such an amazing wave and I have a great relationship with her. Making that first connection in ’86, watching the best backhand surfing by Occ (blown away) and riding some of the most perfect waves a teenager has ever seen. To my latest trip, smelling the distinct scent of the vegetation, paddling out of the keyhole straight into a 4 to 6-foot bomb, getting barrelled through the carpark section, kicking out at Impossibles and thinking, “wow I have missed you so much…”

Referring to a newspaper article regarding the ’92 Country Feeling Surf Classic, my surfing potential was discovered at this event. Most notable defeat was knocking Munga Barry out of the event. Soon after, I picked up sponsorship from Billabong and received the wildcard spot for two years in a row.
