Bianca Buitendag advanced directly to Round 3 of the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro after winning her Round 1 heat against Lakey Peterson (USA) and Laura Enever (AUS).
Meanwhile, in the Mens division, Jordy Smith won his opening encounter against Raoni Monteiro (BRA) and Sebastian Zietz (HAW) to also jump directly to Round 3.
Travis was not so fortunate, finishing third against Miguel Pupo (BRA) and CJ Hobgood (USA) and will have to surf in Round 2.
