Without the photographers who share their inspiring images, we’d never know what Durban was like during its best day ever (Tuesday, 9 June according to some), or at Sunset Reef and Dungeons on Thursday, 6 August – unless we were out there charging ourselves.

2. AN AERIAL VIEW OF THE CAPE TOWN FIRES
Environmental photographer, Jean Tresfon captures plenty of interesting photos during his regular marine patrol flights above and around Cape Town. At the beginning of March this year, he went up and photographed an aerial perspective of the devastating fires that burned for days in parts of the peninsula. View gallery here >>

3. DOUBLE XL (Sunset and Dungeons)
Mike Wrankmore and Grier Fisher took some breathtaking photos of the big waves that were ridden at Sunset Reef and Dungeons on Thursday, 6 August. The sets were solid, the conditions were good for most of the day, and both spots produced some spectacular moments for a crew of brave surfers that rode them. View gallery here >>

4. BEST EVER (Durban, Tuesday, 9 June)
On Tuesday, 9 June, perfect six-foot sets rifled down the Golden Mile’s banks – all day. Some were even claiming it as the best surf Durban has ever seen. Photographer, Nic Aberdein shared his favourite moments from a great day in eThekwini. View gallery here >>
