Killing time between swells is something we all go about in our own way. If you’re one of the many who enjoy tinkering on projects in the garage or workshop, then our latest partnership with DIY gurus BOSCH & DREMEL will be something that may interest you.
We’ve had an epic response to previous DIY competitions we’ve run – like this creation by Andrew Donaghy entered into our BUILD A TROPHY comp run in 2011:

This year we’re opening it up a bit with our BOSCH/DREMEL WE MAKE IT S-I-C competition. The S-I-C stands for Surf-Innovation-Craftsmanship, and we’re looking for entries that are surf-related in any way, just as long as you’ve created them yourself using a little bit of elbow grease and the tools at your disposal.
There’s six monthly drill/saw combo prizes up for grabs for the best entries received each month, and all entries will then be in line for the TWO grand prizes of over R15,000 in Bosch/Dremel tools. The grand prizes will be awarded for both the Craftsmanship and Innovation categories.
Here’s a sneak peek at an entry already submitted by Nick Osborne from KZN, who spotted the We Make It S-I-C comp in the latest issue of Zag:
“I had a couple spare fins lying around and decided to put them to good use. This is what I came up with – a hat and key holder” described Nick when entering his creation.

HOW TO ENTER:
Simply send us pics or video of your creations to comps@zigzag.co.za, along with a brief description of your entry. We’ll then load them on the weMAKEit website, where it will stand a chance to win the monthly draw and/or the overall prize.
RULES & GUIDELINES:
The entries can be any material – for example; plastic, metal, wood, glass, etc.
Contestants can enter any creation surf-related, like – lights, racks, chairs, tables, shelves, frames, furniture, rooms, bars, and garages. Even re-designed leashes, fins, wax combs…
