Pit VS Pit – Monster Pitstop Continues

With three of five finalists decided, the fourth leg of the Monster Energy Pitstop powered by Zigzag in association with O’Neill and iON Action Cameras has kicked off. And so far, two epic entries have been submitted for the November leg.

The first features Durban local, Pierre Tostee setting his line through a perfect New Pier tube on a big board. The Golden Mile saw an epic run of surf throughout much of October, and this rad ride was one of many sand-churning pits ridden in Town during that period.

The second entry features another Durban local, but was filmed halfway around the world in Sumbawa. Lance Morris has made a temporary home for himself in Bali, and can be found chasing swells all over Indo when the opportunity arises. It’s not as big as Pierre’s Town tube, but it’s more than a match in the perfection category.

Entries for the November leg are open until the end of the month, after which the fourth finalist in line for the ‘Pit of the Year’ grand prize worth R30 000* will be decided. Each monthly winner also wins a R5000 hamper from O’Neill (for the surfer) plus an iON Air Pro Wifi Lite worth R2500 (for the videographer).

* Pit of the Year prize includes:
• R15 000 to the winning surfer
• R10 000 to the winning videographer
• An iON Air Pro 3 WiFi worth R5 000
