Casey Grant Makes Late Drop into Pitstop Contention

KZN south coast ripper, Casey Grant has squeezed himself out of this dredging Eastern Cape tube straight into contention for this month’s leg of the Monster Pitstop:

Casey Grant rode this wave well to be in with a shot at this month’s win.

With entries closing on Wednesday, it’s a late drop into Leg 4 of the Monster Pitstop in association with O’Neill, Vestal, Skullcandy and Neff, but Steven Michelsen, who filmed the ride, is hoping that it will garner enough public votes before voting closes, as well as impress the judges enough to take the win in this month’s leg.

Casey’s ride is up against some stiff competition, however, with Jaco Steyn entering two more incredible rides he has scored in Indo recently. This backhand pit at Desert Point is a definite candidate for this month’s win, but you can’t beat the visuals of this Mentawais tube he filmed with his GoPro:

Jaco Steyn scored this dreamy wave in the Mentawais.

Then there’s also a classic Cape beachbreak barrel ridden by Twiggy Baker still in contention for this month’s win as well:

Kate Lovemore-Baker filmed this epic ride of Twiggy’s recently.

The winner of the September leg of the Monster Pitstop will not only claim this month’s prize worth over R10 000*, but will also become the fourth of five finalists in line for the massive grant prize worth over R30 000** for ‘Pit of the Year’.

In the finals so far we have; Granville West and Kai Linder as winner’s of Leg 1; Adin Jeenes and Jonathan Morales as winners of Leg 2; plus Twiggy Baker and Daniel Balbuena who won Leg 3.
