The second instalment of Zag’s GoPro Cover Me comp is winding to a close and we’ve received a span of excellent entries. But you’ve still got a week left to nail the ultimate selfie and stand a chance of gracing the coveted page one of Zigzag.
The competition is open to any SA surfer. All you have to do is nail your ultimate GoPro shot, and you’re in contention. It doesn’t matter if you’re a pro, working class hero or underground charger – anyone is eligible.
One such underground charger who’s been giving it his best in his quest to nail a sick GoPro angle is Cape Town’s Neil Zietsman. Here’s a look at two views of Neil gunning for glory. The land angle was shot by Simon Heale and shows Neil clutching his GoPro in his trailing hand nailing the POV perspective. The other is of course what Neil sees from inside Llands’ crystal chamber.
To ensure magazine quality images, set your GoPro on hi-res photo mode and fire away (frame grabs from a video are not going to cut it). You can shoot yourself or others – the only condition is your entry must be shot on a GoPro (verifiable through the original file) and you have to be a SA citizen. There is no limit on creativity or angles employed, but our photo editor can sniff a chooked pic a mile away. Any doctored images beyond basic colour correction will be immediately disqualified and the culprit sentenced to a lifetime of drop-ins by SUPs.
