Get pitted. Win big! The Monster Energy Pitstop powered by Zigzag in association with O’Neill and iON Action Cameras has kicked-off and we’re looking for your deepest, longest, most insane pit.

Simply upload a video of yourself or another Saffa getting barrelled to monsterpits.co.za and you’re instantly in the running. Every month for five months one winner will be selected from all the uploads and score a R5000 hamper from O’Neill and an iON Air Pro Lite Wi-Fi worth R2,500. That monthly winner will also become a finalist for the Pit of the Year, which scores a hefty R15 000 cash for the surfer and R10 000 cash for the videographer, as well as a iON Air Pro 3 Wi-Fi valued at R5 000.
Team up with a videographer, shoot selfies, it doesn’t matter: any form of video footage is eligible. Your wave can be from anywhere in the world. The only conditions are you have to be a SA citizen (with the exception of surfers from Namibia and Mozambique) and entries must fall within the contest window period. All entries must include one completed wave i.e. the surfer has to make it out the barrel. Slow-mo replays are allowed, but keep your clips under one minute.
Like Josh Redman here, looking casual in the pit may help you score bonus points.
The contest runs from 31 July to 31 December and entries are unlimited. To get the ball rolling, we’re making any barrel from the official start of winter, 1 June 2014, eligible for the first month of competition.
