The Fifth Monster Pitstop Winner Is…

In a unanimous decision by both the judges and the public, Matt Bromley has clinched the win in the December leg of the Monster Energy Pitstop powered by Zigzag in association with O’Neill and iON Action Cameras with this technical tube at Mullaghmore Heads in Ireland:

“I really like the way Matt sets up this barrel,” said Paul Canning from O’Neill, one of the esteemed judges who is a former CT campaigner and a man who knows a thing or two about riding grinding barrels. “This is a heavy slab of a section and it definitely doesn’t look like an easy barrel to make. Bromdog takes off deep and sets it up perfectly using all his Deep South slab skills.”

Twiggy’s phenomenal double tube was a close contender, but the extremely technical nature of Bromdog’s barrel gave him the win in the end. You just gotta love the way this crazy Irish keg starts off by barrelling onto a double-up section halfway up the face, before ballooning open and swallowing the Kommetjie charger deep and whole.

The ride was filmed by Guy Macindoe, who scores himself an iON Air Pro WiFi Lite for capturing the moment, while Matt wins a R5000 hamper from O’Neill and grabs the final spot in the ‘Pit of the Year’ grand final offering a further R30 000* in prizes.
