There’s still no surfer who sits deeper than Rudy Palmboom Snr at Cave Rock. Living just a short jog down the beach from his favourite reefbreak (as well as working from home and being his own boss) ensures that the tube-hungry Bluff legend never misses a session if the elements align and ‘the Rock’ starts delivering its bone-crunching barrels.
Rudy’s been sitting deepest since before many of our readers were born, and still now, at 53 years of age, he shows no signs of slowing down. A good example of the fact that you’re never too old to remain a Surf Ninja – the old masters just assassinate waves with more refined skills.
