Whether he’s clawing his way over the edge of a back-less cyclone swell bomb at New Pier, kerrupt-flipping on a mushy onshore bowl, or off chasing scary waves with former Red Bull Big Wave Africa champ Jason Ribbink, this underground wave assassin likes to go full-throttle.
Being such a hard-charger, you’d also think that nothing scares the New Pier local – so it’s hard to believe that he’s afraid of…microwaves!

BEST SURFING MEMORY?
I was about 13 when my dad and I took a road trip from Durban to J-Bay in his 1966 Ford Fairlane. About halfway through the Transkei the radiator burst, and we were stuck in the middle of nowhere at midnight! We ditched the car for our Sector 9’s and just took off, eventually ending up at a rad backbackers right on the beach. It took a local mechanic three days to find the right parts to fix everything, while my dad and I surfed all day. Long story short, we got to J-Bay eventually, and I surfed Supers for the first time – Our own Endless Summer!
