In his youth, this wave assassin’s 1000km/h shredding earned him sponsors and trips to exotic locations. Having wound down a gear in the past few years, he prefers to stay closer to home, where you can find him patiently fishing alongside a riverbank, or still absolutely ripping apart the breaks near his home in the windy city of PE.
Meet this week’s Surf Ninja, Dylan Stone…
NAME: Dylan Jan Paget Stone
AGE: 31
LOCAL SPOT: The Ocean.
BEST THING ABOUT SURFING?
Being in the ocean. It’s cleansing and nothing beats that feeling of being surfed out after good waves.
WORST THING ABOUT SURFING?
Crowds.
TO MAKE A LIVING I..?
I sell cellular accessories.
THREE TRACKS THAT HELP YOU SHRED?
I don’t really listen to music before I surf, but I enjoy music from The National, Alt J and Interpol.
BEST SURFER IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW?
Tough one. There’s so many amazing surfers out there. Probably John John Florence.
DAWNIE OR ARVO SESH?
Dawnie, as long as it’s after 7:00 am.
WHICH SPOT DO YOU HAVE TO SURF BEFORE YOU DIE?
Nowhere really. I’m quite happy with the setups around here.
WHEN YOU ARE NOT SURFING, YOU CAN BE FOUND WHERE?
Hanging with the wife, in the bush, or at a river.
GREATEST FEAR?
Being paralyzed, or losing my wife.
BEST SURFING MEMORY?
Surfing firing Ponta Point by myself after my other two buddies went in for lunch. That was unreal.
Stoney ….So lekka watching you swoop and hack the kak out of waves since you were a little pachanga at Grey .
We all know you roll EC style …..keep the Jbay gate passes in hand with the wife and little ones to come-legend.
