Cape Town’s favourite throwback surf event is all set to rock ’n roll at Llandudno Beach this coming Sunday, 9 February. That’s right, the RVCA Rolling Retro is back once again and organisers Kai Linder and Robby MacDonald have promised another day of retro mayhem and fun on Llands’ white sands and icy waters.
Like always, there will be a surf-off to determine the most radical retro shredder. If you wish to enter, then you’ll need to get down there by 9:30am for registration. There’s only room for 120 competitors and it is on a first come first serve basis – so get there early if you want to get involved. Cost of entry is 100 Clams.
Robby Macdonald from Vudu Surf is bringing his rad quiver of retro sticks – including vintage John Whitmores, Clive Barker mini-guns and Martin Potter twin fins for all to use. Otherwise wax up and bring your own retro stick.
Robby grabs a board from his vast collection.
For those that simply want to get their groove on while watching the wave warriors shred, there’s plenty more happening – including bands rockin’ out, giveaways, best-dressed competitions, braais, brahs and beverages – plus lots more.

In case you were wondering, the dress code is 70s retro vibes – so glam out accordingly.
