SA’s ultimate tube riding event is back and we want to see you get barrelled! The Monster Energy Pitstop powered by Zigzag in association with O’Neill, Vestal, Skullcandy and Neff has kicked-off, and we are calling all Saffa surfers to get pitted and win big.

The Monster Energy Pitstop is a tube riding contest open to any Saffa surfer. It doesn’t matter if you’re a guy, girl, working class hero, grom or a pro – any SA surfer is eligible.
All you have to do is upload a video of yourself or another surfer getting pitted to monsterpits.co.za and you’re instantly in the running. Every month for the next five months one ride will be selected from all the uploads and win the monthly prize valued at over R10 000, as well as become a finalist for the ‘Pit of the Year’, which offers a chance to score a further R15 000 cash plus a Vestal Heirloom Chrono watch (R5500 value) for the surfer, and R10 000 cash plus a Skullcandy Air Raid Speaker (R1999 value) for the videographer.
Last year, Benji Brand scored R25 000 cash for his winning ride.
Team up with a videographer, shoot selfies, it doesn’t matter: any form of video footage is eligible. Your wave can be from anywhere in the world. The only conditions are you have to be a SA citizen (with the exception of surfers from Namibia and Mozambique) and entries must fall within the contest window period. All entries must include one ridden wave and slow-mo replays are allowed, but keep your clips under one minute. And most importantly, the wave has to be completed i.e. the surfer has to make it out the barrel.
The contest runs from 12 May to 30 September and entries are unlimited. To get the ball rolling, we’re making any barrel from 1 April 2015 eligible for the first month of competition.
