Bianca Buitendag Fights To Keep the Dream Alive

Whilst the majority of us on the South side of the globe were settling down to sleep last night, Saffa surfing icon Bianca Buitendag (who needs a massive result to stay on tour) was busy trying to keep her career alive. The Maui Women’s Pro is the final stop on the women’s World Championship Tour and the event kicked off last night in some small but punchy right handers.

Bianca has gone into the event fighting for her life on tour as she sits twelfth on the rankings and needs to take the win or finish second to ensure re-qualification for the 2017 tour. Not an impossible ask for Bee as she made three finals appearances last year. Sitting above Bianca on the rankings are Laura Enever and Niki van Dijk who perished in Round 2, making things slightly less complicated for our young goofy foot.

Despite the pressure, Biance klapped her Round 2 heat with a 7.6 and a 8.67, leaving no doubt the she is capable of finding the right rhythm and form to take the win. Keep up the gees, Bee!
