Perry gets the Hatchet: ASP Head Judge leaves the Association

Earlier today, a report broken by Australia’s Surfing Life magazine stated that the Association of Surfing professionals have decided not to renew Head Judge, Perry Hatchet’s contract with the company, leaving the unique and highly privileged position blank. Richie Porta will be acting as Head Judge until a permanent replacement is named. Perry has been the longest serving head judge on the ASP where he was instrumental in modernising the World Tour’s judging systems and criteria. According to the story, it was personal differences between Perry and the Association that lead to the spit.
