One of South Africa's most pedigreed surfers, Bluff local Rudy Palmboom Junior, has signed a three year deal with Fox South Africa and is looking forward to contesting the 2010 Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Qualifying Series (WQS) as part of the Fox family.

"I am really happy to be part of the Fox team and am looking forward to a fantastic year competing around the world with Fox's support," said the 21 year old Ansteys Beach local who is currently in Morocco shooting a movie. "Fox has always produced a range of stylish clothing, and their core products and boardshorts are second to none. With Fox's product and assistance I am excited to give 2010 my all and fulfill my lifelong dream of finishing in the WQS top 10 and qualifying for the World Tour."

As a member of the 2009 South African surfing team, a former ASP Africa Pro Junior Champion, and a member of the elite Surfer Magazine Hot 100 in 2008 and 2009, Palmboom brings a wealth of surfing experience and talent to the Fox team. The son of seasoned Cave Rock charger Rudy Palmboom Senior, the younger Palmboom has been raised charging the powerful reef and beach breaks of Durban's Bluff and is no stranger to dangerous conditions.

Having started surfing at the tender age of six, Palmboom participated in his first contest at the age of eight and has become one of the world's most respected junior surfers. Now 21, Palmboom has enjoyed two years contesting the World Qualifying Series, and was recently heralded as one of the Top 20 junior surfers on the planet by surfline.com alongside the likes of Jordy Smith (South Africa), Julian Wilson (Australia), Jadson Andre (Brazil) and Jeremy Flores (France).

"I'm really excited to see Rudy becoming part of the Fox family," said Fox SA Marketing Manager Jonathan Channing. "His surfing speaks for itself and I'm glad that Fox will be able to help him fulfill his dreams of qualifying for the WCT."

Currently in Morocco shooting a segment for the upcoming surf movie "The Africa Project" as well as a story for Zigzag surfing magazine, Palmboom will begin his 2010 WQS campaign in Fernando de Noronha, Brazil, in early February when he contests the Hang Loose Pro.
