Sardine Run Update - Monday 26 July

26/07/10 - 12:51:54PM ~ By Mike Anderson-Reade - KZN Sharks Board ~

Weekend:
Saturday was very quiet with only 10 baskets netted at Addington beach, Durban. Fish lifted late in the afternoon however the netters had called it a day at that stage. Sunday the moderate south westerly wind put paid to any netting outside of the Durban beachfront area. Sea conditions were fairly choppy and netters were unable to see any fish. The wind however does not unsettle the sea off the Durban beachfront and netting took place at Addington and Snake Park beaches for most of the day yesterday, starting mid morning and going through to late afternoon. Many nets taken some of up to 300 baskets per net. Price dropped to R300 per basket late in the afternoon.

Monday:
Sardine activity stretching along the coast from Ballito through to Brighton beach. Netters concentrating their efforts off the Durban beachfront again. 15 nets taken between Addington and Snake Park beaches this morning. Very busy with large loads being netted. Net sizes ranging from 40 to 300 baskets. Netting is still ongoing as of this report (afternoon).

Kelly Whatsisface

One of the battle hardened Aussies: Mick, Taj or Joel. Never write them off.

Jordy, Julian or Owen. They’ve got the experience now to back up the moves.

One of the newbies: John John or Medina. They’re doing stuff that even has Kelly scratching his head
