Todos Santos big wave event scheduled to go on Sunday 28th Feb

The Todos Santos Big Wave Event will unfold Sunday, February 28th with the first heat beginning at 8am at KILLERS, the world famous big wave break in Todos Santos, Baja Mexico.

24 of the best big wave surfers in the world will compete for the crown and the glory of winning this elite big wave event.

Todos will be the last event of the Big Wave World Tour 2009/2010 season. The first ever Big Wave World Champion will be crowned this April.  Tour leader Greg Long (California) is currently in the lead and although he is ahead of Brazilian Carlos Burle and Chris Bertish from South Africa the crown is still up for grabs.

With the end of the Contest Director Gary Linden made the call this morning after consulting with Surfline.com, the official forecaster for the event, and Greg Long, the surfer’s representative. Greg said, “The conditions look good. The swell is probably going to be bigger than it’s showing on the buoys. Due to the proximity and direction of the swell it looks like we may get lucky and have a glassy day.”

When making the call Gary said, “After all the hard work, it looks like we are going to get our wish with some solid swell at 18-20 ft. for the last event of the Big Wave World Tour. This has been a record year in that all the events planned have gone off.”

The Rogue Wave Events team is ready for the event and is excited by all the positive feedback from the surfing community. For example, on www.todossantosevent.com, Bruno W. exclaimed, “…This event is the pure surfing essential…You guys are bringing back the true vibe of big wave surfing.”
