Max Armstrong - Family Values

16 Year-old Scarborough local Max Armstrong is one of the country's best junior surfers. Most of us already knew that. What most of us never knew, though, is that he also likes to make his own custom hats and charge some heavy water with his father Ian. Neil webster from Fixer Films dropped in on the young ripper to learn more about what makes him tick.

Desert Dreaming - Shaun Joubert's West Oz Sojourn

With just two events of the 2012 ASP World Tour completed it is still early days, but we hit the beach anyway to see who the surfers of North Beach, Durban think has what it takes to claim the 2012 ASP world title.

Life of Leisure - Brendon Gibbens

Cape Town's Brendon Gibbens sent us a "Postcard to Zag" recently claiming he's been spending the summer in search of windy ramps to bust some airs on. One of these airs, punted into the crosshore wind at Witsands, saw BG take out leg two of the Oakley One Wave Wonder. Here are a couple more waves of his from over the summer.

Barry Mottershead vs Mullaghmore

Irish transplant Barry Mottershead has been charging his way into the inner circle of Irish big wave surfing since moving to the Emerald Isle from his hometown of Plett. He has an appetite for charging mutant slabs and Ireland's Mullaghmore Heads has been making headlines as one of the world's heaviest. Barry charges a couple of mad ones out at "Mullys" in this short clip.

Irina meets Twiggy (& friends)

One man (and some friends) meet one swell - generated from cyclone Irina. Follow Twiggy as he gets stuffed into some heavy beachbreak kegs during a couple marathon sessions over the course of three days.

Beyrick De Vries

Beyrick de Vries won every Pro Junior event held in South Africa last year. He's started taking names in the international Pro Juniors as well, most recently at the Chiko Pro Junior held in Australia last week, where he made the semi's, as well as making the quarter-final of the Breaka Burleigh Pro with the likes of Josh Kerr and Julian Wilson. How did he do it? With moves like in this clip.

Another Day at the Office

Cape Town tube-fiend Neil Zietsman has been hard at work. Take a guided tour through his office while Neil goes about his daily business of getting shacked off his melon.

Quiksilver Goodwave presented by Zigzag - Dan Redman Interview

"When it's on, I'd want to be nowhere else in the world other than New Pier". Dan Redman gives us the ins and outs of the Quiksilver Goodwave, and an excuse to string together some insane waves. Look out for the Twiggy barrel in particular.

From Sunrise at Sunset

Late last week Sunset Reef served up some perfect big waves for the crew to tackle. And tackle it they did, with some of the big wave chargers staying out for 10 hours straight.

Big Wave Irina

Welcome to big wave Irina. Take your assigned seat and watch the show as Durban's big wave gladiators tackle Cyclone Irina's monsters.

Dale Staples board test

Dale Staples has the leg strength to power through turns that will leave most of us crumpling to our knees. He's a solid unit and uses that to his advantage in powerful waves. Check him putting his boards through their paces at Supers, Bruces and a secret reef break near home.

Question
Should fishermen be allowed to pull a trek net through the lineup and bathing area at Surfer’s Corner in Muizenberg?

Yes, people’s lives depend on it (food). The surfers and bathers have alternatives.

No, people’s lives depend on it (shark attacks). The fishermen have alternatives.

No opinion either way, don’t care, doesn’t make a difference to the universe, etc.
