And the Shot Bru grand champion for 2011 is...

20/12/11 - 15:51:10PM ~ By www.shotbru.co.za ~

This year saw shotbru.co.za crack the 10,000th photo upload milestone. 2011 also witnessed a dramatic increase in the number of exceptional quality images being taken by our loyal Shot Bru contributers, which is fantastic, except when it came down to choosing the winner for 2011's grand prize.

To say it's been a difficult task is an understatement. But after enlisting the help of our readers, whom we got to vote in our online poll featuring all the Shot Bru winners from each issue of ZIGZAG this year, the job was made somewhat easier.

Winning Shot Bru 2011, and claiming the grand prize of a 4 nights stay at the luxurious On The Beach Guesthouse in J-Bay, as well as an Olympus Digital camera worth R6999, is Claire Butler from Cape Town. Claire has built up an impressive portfolio of images on Shot Bru (click here to check it out), and her image of Kommetjie local Brad van Zyl dropping into a throaty Krans peak had the majority of our judges, along with 50% of the voters from the online poll, convinced that the prize was hers.

Claire pipped the following Shot Bru contributers to take the title:

Kody McGregor - Issue 35.1
Daniel Botha - Issue 35.2
James Puttick - Issue 35.3
Andrew Doyle - Issue 35.4
Don MacGillivray - Issue 35.5

Question
Should fishermen be allowed to pull a trek net through the lineup and bathing area at Surfer’s Corner in Muizenberg?

Yes, people’s lives depend on it (food). The surfers and bathers have alternatives.

No, people’s lives depend on it (shark attacks). The fishermen have alternatives.

No opinion either way, don’t care, doesn’t make a difference to the universe, etc.
