International Surfing Day - South Africa

02/06/10 - 13:58:46PM ~ By Will Bendix ~

Five years ago, our good friends over at Surfing Magazine in the USA had a brainwave: let’s dedicate one day of the year to celebrate surfing and, well, go surfing… The day, 20 June, was documented around the world and quickly became a global phenomenon. Soon people were doing more than catching a few waves and recording it. They were organizing beach cleanups, rallying support for environmental issues, and raising awareness around the ocean.

This year Zigzag is partnering with Surfing Magazine to run International Surfing Day in South Africa. We’ve created a portal for all surfers, organisations and ocean lovers to network with each other and have a platform. Click here to go to the ISD South Africa portal.

Join up as a member (CLICK HERE) and let everyone know what you’ll be doing on the day. Use it to rally some support, or simply talk to each other and post your pics. Because we want to see your photos and hear your stories. It doesn’t matter if you’re out to save the world, or just give thanks while riding a few waves and having a good time - 20 June is the big day. Get involved, go surfing.
