Zigzag / Hurley Sponsor me Shootout finals Day 5

01/09/09 - 22:56:50PM ~ By Brandon Bradley ~

Like clockwork, the Southern Cape was once again delivering… Fun 4 to 5-foot peaks were pouting their corpulent lips, wedging down the shallow sandbank and begging our finalists to man up and smash it silly. From the beach our happy photographer was shuffling his feet in elation while mumbling something about the extraordinary light and ‘breathtaking’ granite backdrop. Not that the crew were focussing on the backdrop much; the boys knew that it was game time and the clock was ticking.

Hanging within reach was the epic Hurley Sponsorship deal and all expenses paid Indo photo surf trip with the Zag, only a session away from being determined. Our mild mannered finalists had grown tight bonds. But at the back of their minds a mammoth prize was out to be earned and our band of brothers had one last chance to flair up for the cameras.

The previous days had yielded enough A-grade images to make the most demanding of photo editors weep in appreciation. So we thought that we could afford to experiment. The message from ace lensman, Greg Ewing, was a simple one; go as big as you can - raise your game. It paid off. Check the next issue of the ZAG for proof!

Tick-tock, a few hours later, wham-bam, the Shootout, she was technically completed. Zigzag and Hurley now have a week to announce the winner. We have a hardrive full of video and photos to analyse, notes to roll through and a massive accolade to hand out. The finalists have been summoned to meet back in Cape Town on Friday the 21 August for the styling award banquet where we will be making either Adin, Chris, Ewald, Jasper or John a very happy bloke.

Stay tuned to zigzag.co.za for the verdict!

Question
Does Jordy have what it takes to win the ASP World Title this year?

Absolutely, he's got the talent and the class.

Naaah, he's been lucky. The smart money is on Slater, Mick or Taj

No idea. I'm fence sitting on this one.
